A story set in a fictional universe of mine called 'Lestaria', but there's enough context not provided that anyone can enjoy. Consider it somewhat of a prologue for things to come, actually.

An unknown deserter from a terrible war winds up in a forest, one so dangerous that only one woman resides there. Begging her for shelter, our protagonist finds that it's not so easy as saying please to obtain shelter...

This is a text adventure game! A lot of the basics are explained in game, but here's a more thorough guide if needed:

  • The command box is the area with the blinking cursor--this is where you'll be typing! If there's no option to type, click/tap to continue until it allows you to progress. To make the game welcoming to beginners, I've restricted the commands to only have a verb followed by a noun. Some basic commands you'll need to know are:
  • Take 'noun', to pick up various items to solve puzzles with. 'Look' to refresh the room description. The description is dynamic and will give you guidance on what to do next as you solve puzzles, so please keep this in mind! 'Inventory', will let you look at what you're holding. There's also options to shut the sound off if you'd like, save and quit, reset, and 'get hint' will allow you to get a general idea of the puzzles that are in the room, along with specific directions. However, the changing description will hopefully be of enough help!
  • It will be hinted through the item names and words used in the descriptions as to what commands you need to use, so please reuse those words as needed!
  • To move between areas, there will be three directions you use primarily: North, South, and Enter/Exit. You can tap on the yellow words, but if there's no option to or you can't, you can type the word in the command box.

That's all! Have fun! And you can always revisit the tutorial in game in a shorter format, if needed.
